Revolve Church, Cape May NJ

Dear Father,

I thank You for the writing of Pastor Bill Laky on January 5, 2016, with his article entitled “Devoted to Fellowship“.

He writes:

The point is that fellowship, without rallying around shared ideas, purposes and mission, isn’t really fellowship at all. It diminishes the family of God to a corner bar, to a cafeteria table or to a neighborhood. The shared foundational beliefs and obedience fused the early church together so that they functioned like a single body.

Father, every believer in Jesus Christ shares a testimony of how You have transformed our lives.  A testimony is your purpose and mission applied to the uniqueness of every person.  We share ideas for how You work in the lives of those struggling with grief, addiction, illness, financial crisis, and other forms of adversity.

Redeemer Church, Somerville MA

Dear Father,

I thank You for Redeemer Church of Somerville MA.  I thank You for their commitment to blogging and the metaphor of the cockpit I just read from their January 13th post.  I ask that You bless their writings, that the articles will touch lives.

Father, on their website they write:

You’ll experience a welcoming community, stirring music, and teaching from the Bible that connects to real life and points to Jesus.

The phrase that struck me is that they want their ministry to connect people to “real life”.  Real life includes the stories of struggles and how You rescue us from those struggles.  Testimonies.  I pray that You will create new testimonies at Redeemer.  May the people in the congregation share their stories with one another and with the residents of Somerville.

Calvary Hill Church, Glassboro, NJ

Dear Father,

I thank You for the ministry of Calvary Hill Church of Glassboro, NJ.

I thank You for their strategy, which includes:

  • Train people to make contact and build relationships with non-church people, as well as new believers (John 14:1; Luke 19:1-10)
  • Teach people how to give a compelling verbal witness in the context of relationships (Jn. 3:1-15; 4:4-26)
  • Commit to ministering to the younger generation

This is a strategy that compliments the sharing of testimonies, stories of how You transform lives.  I ask that You create more and more stories within this church.  I ask that You encourage the people in the church to share their stories with one another.  I also ask that You lead a few to share their testimonies on the church website.  I ask that the sharing of those testimonies will connect online with non-church people, that the testimonies lead to a verbal witness, and that the testimonies reach the online younger generation.

Father, what a statement about the need for testimonies!  People experience all kinds of adversity – grief, illness, financial crisis, addiction, catastrophic loss, divorce, and more.  You meet us right where we are.  It doesn’t matter how we’ve messed up our lives, You love us unconditionally.

Calvary Lutheran Church, West Chester PA

Dear Father,

A church is a greenhouse of faith, as Pastor Daniel Krewson shares in the video on the Calvary Lutheran of West Chester PA website.  You are growing us, making us more and more like Christ.

You, Father, do accept us just the way we are.  You also love us enough not to leave us that way.  Thank You that Pastor Daniel was given such wording!

Father, Daniel states that a church is plugged in to the power of God.  That power is revealed in the trnasformation of lives.  I ask that You encourage the folks at Calvary Lutheran to share their testimonies – first with one another and then with the West Chester community, courageously sharing on the church website.

Dear Father,

On the Redeemer Church website, they write:

“Quite simply, we’re a redemptive community on a journey. People from all walks of life, imperfect and messy lives, are pursuing and experiencing a transformational relationship with Jesus and friendships with each other.”

Yes!  We all have imperfect and messy lives.  We experience all kinds of adversity, often because we live in a broken world.  However, we also make mistakes.  We make choices that are contrary to Your will for our lives.  It can get messy!

Dear Father,

I thank You for the work of the The Bridge Academy in Coatesville.  It was a pleasure to write an article about their ministry several years ago.

I ask that You bless their Heart of Poverty Seminar on March 19!  I pray that the seminar will bring life transforming hope and encouragement to someone who attends.  I pray the seminar will lead at least one person to be more committed in their life to help the poor.  I pray that You will be sovereign over the details so that lives are touched in Your name.

Dear Father,

I thank You for those who carefully crafted the Freedom Valley church website.  There is both an authenticity of love and a humility about it, reflecting a congregation that has genuinely experienced the love of Jesus Christ.

Father, they write – “We are building leaders, creating healing opportunities, and stirring vision in the hearts of people.  The mission Jesus gave us is sacred, but the methods are not.  We believe we exist to reach those who don’t yet know about Jesus, and to help them understand the true gospel of Jesus Christ and the Bible!”
