Good Ground Family Church, Cohoes NY

Dear Father,

Today I learned that the congregation of Good Ground Family Church is uniting in prayer for the healing of their pastor, Wendell Williams, who is battling serious cancer.

Father, we join them in prayer and we ask for You to perform a miracle.  Spare his life, emboldening him with an even deeper thanksgiving for You that will empower his ministry for years.  Father, create amazing testimonies here – not just in Wendell’s life but also in the lives of members of his congregation.  May what You are doing in his life encourage others as they battle adversities in their own lives.

A Prayer for the Victims of Nice, France

Dear Father,

I ask tonight for Your grace and compassion on the victims and loved ones of the terrorism in Nice, France.  There are no doubt people suffering in great physical pain this evening.  There are no doubt people suffering with great emotional trauma.  There are people whose lives have been transformed.  I pray that You will comfort all of these hurting people.  I pray for relief from intense pain and heartache.  I pray for rest.  I pray for recovery and healing, physically and emotionally.  I pray that You will move those who love You to embrace all of those who hurt as a result of this evil.

Dear Father,

Loving God, living faith, serving others. This is the commitment of First Baptist Church of Alexandria, VA as expressed on their website.  Father, these words sound like what would make three excellent sections of a testimony.  A testimony is about love for You, about trusting You in difficult times in life, and about serving others from the thankful spirit in our hearts.  I thank You for leading those who designed this church website to share their commitment with us.

I also thank You for the commitment of this church to serving others.  May Your blessings be on their ministries with Carpenter’s Shelter, Bethany House of Northern Virginia, ALIVE! (furniture delivery), and Meals on Wheels.

Dear Father,

Awaken Church of McAllen Texas writes on their website:

Inspiring, relevant, authentic…Awaken Church is a home, a place where everyone is significant and full of purpose. We believe that God has a great plan for your life and we are honored to come alongside you in your journey!

Father, I am convinced that published testimonies fit the description of “inspiring, relevant, and authentic”.  A published testimony shows that every life is significant, that every life has purpose.  A published testimony shows how God has a plan for a person’s life.  A published testimony is an invitation for Christ to come alongside someone who is on a difficult journey in life.

Dear Father,

I have said this so many times before in prayers to You.  There is clearly a spirit in churches around the country that is testimony-friendly – whether the churches are aware of that or not.

I visited The Family Church of Mcallen, Texas and I found these words:

TFC is a place for everyone to connect, regardless of questions, doubts, backgrounds, or struggles. Our church is comprised of real people from diverse backgrounds who have experienced the transformational love of God and have come together to worship God together.

Dear Father,

I thank You for the work You are doing at Cornerstone Church of Mcallen, TX.  I ask for your blessings on their current sermon series “Nothing is Wasted”.  Father, as You know, those words have very special meaning to me, words of encouragement given to me by a dear friend a few years ago when I was very discouraged.  I ask that You bless this series, that people who are discouraged in various adversities in life find hope and peace.

Father, as You know, I do not have permission to reprint this church’s vision statement.  I’m going to trust my brothers and sisters in Christ from Cornerstone will be gracious to me.  However, I love this vision statement.  It shows a heart in the church that really wants to see lives touched by the love of Jesus Christ.  This is a testimony-friendly church vision statement:

The website of Calvary Community Church of Lincoln NE states:

“We are a congregation of God’s people who worship together, serve together, and believe that God wants people to have life at its fullest potential. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

Dear Father,

I thank You so much for the blog article written by Joey entitled Welcome or Wanted on the website of CrossBridge Church of Lincoln, Nebraska.  By the wonders of the Internet, I was able to read this article written in 2014.

Father, I loved the analogy Joey wrote of how guests to a church should be treated like guests are treated in our own homes.  I pray Your blessings on this article and that churches across the nation will be more welcoming of any visitors who walk through their doors.
