Dear Father,

Over 10 years ago I considered taking my life.  As you know, I gave it enough consideration to lead me to a weekend stay in the hospital.

On Wednesday, September 10, I attended a vigil for the survivors of suicide, hosted by Survivors of Suicide (SOS).  The tears and sobbing of those left behind was certainly a reminder that I never want to consider taking my life again.  The pain of the surviving loved ones is awful.

We ask you for the following blessings on this charity:

  • You will direct, empower, and resource SOS to help the leaders achieve excellence in what they do.

God, please stop one person this hour from committing suicide, somewhere across the country, but especially in Delaware County, the home of SOS.

There are so many women who are broken throughout the US.  They have such important roles – mothers, daughters, sisters, employees, neighbors, volunteers, and leaders.  Women are often the glue that holds organizations together and they often challenge the men to be the best they can be.  When a woman’s life is broken, the institutions she contributes to suffer.  We ask that you bring restoration and healing to women around the country who are dealing with addiction, depression, trauma, and eating disorders.

The police are often criticized, especially by those who would prefer not to obey the law.  There are many who are feeling increasingly threatened by the militarization of the police.  However, when law abiding citizens feel threatened or are in danger, they are relieved that there are hundreds of thousands of dedicated and honorable men and women in police departments around the country who will rush to their aid.
